Olympian Nona Garson and Ridge Farm Present 2nd Annual Select Sport Horse Sale
Buyers in the market for “that special horse” will have the unique opportunity to purchase a quality sport horse just prior to the start of the Florida winter circuit. On Saturday January 22, Olympic show jumping rider Nona Garson and the Ridge Farm will present the 2nd Annual Intercontinental Sport Horse Sale at the Ridge Farm in Palm Beach Point East in Wellington, Florida. The brainchild of Garson, who saw the need for such a sale in this country, modeled it after the famous Holsteiner sales in Germany she had so often attended.
The 2nd Annual Intercontinental Sport Horse Sale will be conducted once again under the expert management and administration of the veteran auctioneer Jeff Marsh of Eurosport Auctions of Culpepper, VA. “This sale is definitely the premiere horse sale in North America. It is the bellweather by which all other sales are measured,” commented Marsh.
“This is a really wonderful opportunity to showcase top quality horses to prospective buyers and a really great way for sellers to sell a top horse. It’s very professional and efficient. Last years sale was a huge success. There was a horse there for everyone!” exclaimed Nona, owner of The Ridge Farm. “Buy your horse at the auction on Sunday and show it at the horse show the following Wednesday!”
A mixed group of approximately 30 performance horses will be offered for sale including stallions, mares and geldings, ages three and up. These are select hunters, jumpers and dressage horses ranging from top of the line green prospects to made winners in the ring. These horses have all been personally tried and pre-selected by Garson, a 1995 Pan American Games Team Bronze Medalist and 2000 USET Olympic Games Team Member, throughout the calendar year both abroad and at home. All horses accepted to the sale have been pre-vetted by the official USET veterinarian Brendan Furlong and are offered with 18 current x-rays available for inspection. They will be on the premises at The Ridge Farm for 10 days prior to the sale and available to try by appointment during that time. At noontime on both the Tuesday and Friday during the week of the sale, interested parties are invited to an official parade and presentation of all the horses that will be offered in the sale on Saturday.
On Saturday January 22, horses can be tried until 2 p.m. by appointment. The auction will begin promptly at 5 p.m. Refreshments and libation will be offered.
