Robert Splaine to be offered job as Irish Chef d'Equipe 10-25-2005 11:34 am
AT a meeting of the Executive of the Show Jumping Association of Ireland (SJAI) in the Ambassador Hotel, Co. Kildare tonight (Monday), it was unanimously agreed that Robert Splaine be asked to take the job of Chef d'Equipe to the senior Irish show jumping team for the 2006 season, subject to approval by the Equestrian Federation of
Ireland (EFI), and subject to the agreement of a contract.
Tonight's decision was taken after two previous meetings had discussed the matter of Chef d'Equipe. The first of these meetings was chaired by SJAI Chairman Charles Hanley on October 10, and involved riders from both Super League and four star Nations' Cups teams for 2005, as well as members of the SJAI International Affairs
Committee and the SJAI Executive. The second meeting took place on October 17, when the issue was further discussed by the SJAI International Affairs Committee.
Robert Splaine, who is from Co. Cork, has been a member of many Irish senior show jumping teams and was also successful as a competitor in the Samsung Super League. He has already acted as Chef d'Equipe to
Irish Nations' Cup teams on an ad hoc basis this season.
