Baileys Horse Feeds/British Breeding Futurity Championship results 2005

Over 100 British bred horses were enrolled for the inaugural Baileys Horse Feeds/British Breeding Futurity Scheme Championships. Presented for evaluation this year at the College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe on 22 September were 31 foals, 29 yearlings, 14 two year olds and 16 three year olds. Participating horses were split across the disciplines with 26 dressage horses, 23 show jumpers and 41 eventers.

Evaluators were Stewart Hastie and Chris Hewlett (eventers), Clem Somerset and Liz Barton (show jumpers and dressage horses), Celia Clarke and Carolyn Rycroft (foals of all disciplines).

The four year old section is run along side the South Essex Insurance Brokers/British Breeding Young Horse Evaluations series where the winners were determined from the Futurity enrolled finalists at the Royal Show 2005.

The Central Prefix Register (CPR) Performance Award to the highest placed horse whose prefix is registered with the CPR was presented by Mrs Pat Campbell to yearling dressage filly Westhills Waterloo by Longdean Westminster, owned and bred by Helen Lowe.

Says BEF Director Of Breeding Graham Suggett “we are delighted with the quality of British bred youngstock forward for evaluation. The winning horses are superb examples of the horses we need to be producing to put British breeders back on the international map”.
