Home favourite Toni Leviste lands Manila SEA World Cup League Final

The Philippines Toni Leviste won the Manila South East Asian World Cup League Final riding Globe Platinum Maktub today, beating Hong Kong's Charlotte Morse and O'Jasper in a two-horse jump-off.

They were the only two riders to score clear first rounds over Course Designer Olaf Petersen Jr's track.

Malaysia's Qabil Ambak and Syed Omar both had good days, finishing with 4 fault first rounds on their mounts.  Qabil took third place with Camelias on the basis of a faster 1st round time of 84.39 secs.

Syed Omar, who rode his SEA Games horse Cora, was timed at 87.02 secs.  Qabil will have to make an important SEA Games choice after both his horses Camelias and Opium Metodo, which he declared for today's final, finished with one fence down.  Quzier Ambak and Calano finished with 5 faults.  Lea Tan did not start the final.

The Philippines Joker Arroyo and Jones Lanza both finished with 7 faults.  Asian Games champion Mikee Cojuangco did not start the SEA League Final, instead competing in some of the lower classes.

In the jump-off Toni's clear round in 54.45 secs gave her the win over Charlotte, who had a fence down in 54.64 secs.

With the win, 2000 Olympian Toni Leviste has become the firm favourite to win next month's South East Asian Games.  In Maktub, Toni now has the most consistent horse in South East Asia.  Not only have they won the League Final, the last pointer of South East Asian Games form, they also finished 2nd at the Royal Selangor World Cup and 4th at the NHS World Cup.

Only eight started the SEA World Cup League Final.  Only riders from Philippines and Malaysia took part.  There were no participants from Thailand, Indonesia or Singapore, the other countries which have entered teams for the South East Asian Games.
