Keeping the faith in his 2001 champion Camelias paid off as the Selle Francais gelding recorded only three time faults around Olaf Petersen Jr.'s two-round track. After a 2-fault first round, Qabil kept his nerve jump another clear, albeit with one time fault, to finish on 3 penalties. The Philippines's home favourite and SEA World Cup Final winner Toni Leviste kept the pressure up right to the end, jumping a clear second round. She finished on 4 faults with Globe Platinum Maktub for the silver medal. The "Comeback Kid" Jones Lanza, back after 10 years out of competition, did very well to finish in the bronze medal position with Don't Cry For Me. Jones added just one time fault to his 1st round score of 4, for a total of 5 faults. Thailand finished just out of the individual medals. Varat Ngowabunpat had a rail down with Luxor for 4 faults, dropping him back to a total of 8 faults. Dhewin Manathanya was able to jump a clear 2nd round to finish also on 8 penalties. Joker Arroyo finished with 17 faults. Quzier Ambak dropped back to a final toal of 21 faults. Young Lea Tan finished on 24 faults with Malaysian reserve horse La Bonita.
