Freestyle Dressage to Music Debut at the British Open Show Jumping Championships

The dramatic, theatrical display, to be performed by Rebecca Moody, internationally acclaimed up-and-coming dressage rider (see attached), will feature daily at the show. Rebecca will perform movements achieved only at the highest levels of training, to an upbeat, high energy musical montage, captivating the audience and raising hairs on the backs of necks around the arena.

Riding to Prix St George, Intermediaire I and Grand Prix standard, Rebecca will demonstrate the breathtakingly graceful movements of Piaffe, Passage, Pirouette and Half Pass with exuberant extensions and spectacular flying changes, in a relaxed, yet stylish format.

Rebecca’s horses include the dashing Kwadraat and the stunning Humble Pie, Rebecca’s first Grand Prix horse and winner of the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Hickstead Masters in 2005. Both have trained with the Moodys at their family-run yard, Gunthwaite Dressage, since arriving as 3 year olds. The latest addition to the Moody’s stable is the up-and-coming High Fashion, winner of the 2005 National Young Horse Prix St George Championships, who will also join Rebecca at the British Open.

Accepting the exclusive invitation, Rebecca commented, “I’m delighted to have been invited to the British Open Show Jumping Championships. Dressage is growing more and more popular and I’m really hoping to inspire the crowds…I particularly enjoy the Freestyle, there’s so much more scope to improvise and entertain!”

Alongside this impressive dressage display will be the very best of International Show Jumping, high speed Scurry Driving, an intricate Equestrian Vaulting display by the English Squad and a fast moving Barrel Racing competition. In addition, this year’s British Open will host a new and innovative Indoor Cross Country competition, the first ever to be staged in the UK and which is set to provide extra fervour with top eventers such as William Fox-Pitt and Pippa Funnell tackling a series of bespoke cross country jumps. The British Open will also feature an Arena Polo competition where Jack Kidd joins leading arena polo professional, Tim Bown, in the highest goal arena game ever seen in the UK. For those wishing to gain autographs there will be daily rider signings as well as the opportunity to shop and browse the range of tradestands.

Whichever day spectators visit the British Open, they are guaranteed a fantastic all-round equestrian experience and great value all-day tickets on Thursday and Friday ranging from as little as £14.00 up to £37.50 together with excellent discounts for children under 16 and OAP’s.
