Wits End Farm is pleased to announce the upcoming 2006 Wits End Horse Trials CIC*** Level International Horse Competition over 3 days on September 30, 31 and October 1st, 2006. The competition will be exciting as top international competitors from around the world compete during this challenging and unique Canadian Event. Returning this year will be defending champion Bruce Davidson, the five-time US Olympic Team Member who won at Wits End in 2005, taking home the top prize of $10,000.00. Bruce's parting words last year promised they "will be back…in force". The challenging course has attracted Great Britain's Leslie Law who was awarded the Individual Gold Medal, in the three-day event, at the Athens 2004 Olympics. In addition to his individual win Leslie was a member of the British Team winning the Silver. Scheduled to arrive in competitive style will be Phillip Dutton a three time Olympic competitor and a member of Australia's Gold Medal Three-Day Eventing Team at the 1996 Athens Olympic Games. In addition to competing internationally for Australia Phillip has been a seven time winner on the US Eventing circuit as the USEA Leading Rider. Adding to the field will be US top ranked rider Darren Chiacchia, currently ranked in the Top 5 US riders, with his horse, Windfall II ranked number 1. D! arren competed for the USA in the 2004 Athens Olympics winning a bronze medal in addition to his individual Gold at the 2003 Pan Am Games. Top Canadian and International Competitors will be participating at the farm located in the beautiful rolling hills of Rosemont, just north of Toronto. This is the only competitive Horse Trials at this international level in Canada. In 2004 and 2005 successful competitions were held for Canadian and U.S. riders at the Wits End Advanced Horse Trials. This year the competition is a full International Level Horse Trials CIC***, being run under rules of the world governing body of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). "This year marks the beginning of Wits End entering the World Stage and will continue to enlarge the competitive field with the goal of hosting a World Cup Qualifier competition in 2007", said Jo Young. The Cross Country Course is built over beautiful rolling countryside ensuring a world-class challenge for riders while providing spectacular viewing for fans and spectators. The course has been prepared to the highest of FEI International competitive standards under the guidance of David O'Connor, the distinguished international Course Designer from the US. O'Connor is also well known as an Olympic Gold Medalist (Sydney-2000), and in addition, he is currently the International Technical Advisor for the Canadian Event Team. Competitors at the 2005 event were impressed with conditions and challenges the course offered. Bruce Davidson, 5 Time USA Olympic Team Member, and 2005 Wits End Champion, noted "…our American contingent were impressed with the beauty of the location and the challenging cross country course". They are back in force. For more information, visit: www.witsendhorsetrials.ca Media Contact: John R.
