During the CSI in Geneva the Duo Breeding Prizes were awarded. The breeders of the leading horses in the 2006 WBFSH/FEI Breeding Rankings were handed the Duo Breeding Prizes by WBFSH chairman Jan Pedersen and Franck Dairin of Merial. World and Olympic Champion Keltec Salinero (HANN, Salieri x Luna by Lungau), ridden by Anky van Grunsven was for the second year running at the top of the WBFSH/FEI Dressage Rankings. Herewith his breeder Horst Bünger from Germany won the 2006 Breeding title. His daughter Ina came to Geneva to receive the award on her father’s behalf.
Mr. Bünger is a renowned breeder. With Salinero’s father Salieri (Salvano – Samtbeere x Servus) he also bred the approved stallion Salisbury (Salieri – Piroschlka x Pik Bube I) as well as Salinero’s full brother Seven Up. At the Olympic Games in Athens, Salinero won the individual dressage gold medal and Seven Up competed in the show jumping for Korea. Their mother, the 15 year-old mare Luna still belongs to the breeder.
