Stallions take centre stage at Necarne 03-13-2008 1:03 am

The Stallion Show, organised by the Half Bred Horse Breeders Society Ltd and sponsored by Blue Grass took place at Necarne Equestrian Centre recently.
The sponsor, Blue Grass, has long been associated with nutritional excellence in feeding for the performance and breeding sectors.
Stallions came from all over Ireland to take part and Studs were widely advertised in the Trade Stand section.
The Stallion Show offers the opportunity to see at first hand the current stallions to allow comparison and aid selection for the next breeding season.
All interests were catered for with representation from a wide variety of studbooks.
The day started with the Connemaras who gave a great display and produced an enthusiastic crowd of Connemara breeders. These were followed by well presented ridden ponies and then a very interesting Friesian and an attractive Cob. The next three groups consisting of Irish Draft, Sport Horse and Thoroughbreds were well represented.
The audience watched attentively as each stallion paraded, while others went on to demonstrate their ability to jump and one gave a splendid dressage performance.
Numbers in the crowd came and went throughout the day, each one appreciating their own speciality.
Stallion owners were pleased with enquiries received.
The commentators were John Reid and Raymond Bready.
The Half Bred Horse Breeders Society would like to thank everyone who supported the Show.
